Lise Sarfati.

Hello! :D

While examining the blog of a very interesting person, whom I accidentally met in Bruxelles, I stumbled upon some pretty terrific blogs. I must admit, I’m not a very patient person and once you get me started, there’s no stopping me. My curiosity takes over.

This is exactly what happened with Lise Sarfati’s pictures. She is a French photographer , who grew up in Nice, then relocated for a short period in Russia, only to take final residence in The U.S. She chose The States due to the size, believing “Space is a condition to realize ourselves.”.

In pozele Lisei, descoperim oameni simpli, care locuiesc in orase mici, unde normalitatea pluteste in aer, unde ritmul vietii este unul mai incet.

Through Lise’s photographs, we discover simple people from small towns, where ordinary is the word of the day, where everything is in rather slow motion. The photographer shows an interest in projects with and about teenagers and women, considering the teen years to be the only true period of life. Most of her photos portray feminine presences, who seem to ponder on life itself, on themselves, on their identity and uncertainty of the moment.

Sincera sa fiu, imi place aceasta perspectiva asupra personalitatii omenesti, imi place ideea schimbarii, ideea unui nou inceput, in orice moment.

Sarfati presents personality as an ever-changing entity, believing you could change your mood, your personal opinion and the opinion of others about you, as easily as changing your clothes. To be honest, I like this perspective on human personality, the idea of change and a fresh start at any given time appeals to me.

Lise is a discrete photographer, she does not bother her subject, who, most times is in his comfort zone, this way conveying exactly those emotions, of liberty and comfort, in the photograph itself.

“I am interested in marginality, in immaturity, in naïveté, in illusion, in fictions, in transitions, in the fact that at a certain moment in life there is no limit. I would like my photography to pose a question rather than make a precise statement.” - Lisa Sarfati

Va las sa descoperiti in cateva randuri, cum a inceput pasiunea mea pentru haine...

La multi ani!

Hei, sper ca ati inceput bine noul an.

Hey ladies,
I hope you began this year on the right foot. Right now, I’m cheerful and in a good mood, I’m hungry for more and in need of information. I want to think a whole lot more, to simply be able to observe more. I’m lucky to have a pretty old and knowledgeable book about the history of fashion of which I can’t get enough. I’m just trying to get it all in.
Meanwhile, my eyes roam over the catalogues of Miss Vivienne Westwood’s collections, whom I dearly appreciate. I don’t believe her clothes are what appeal me, but the way she presents them to the world, how she illustrates the idea behind, her straight-forwardness . Maybe that’s why people, sometimes, label her as an extreme nonconformist, occasionally crazy.
In the end, there’s a piece of crazy in all of us. It’s about the people who embrace it at its fullest and the ones who run away from it.
Tonight, I searched some of her quotes and looked for meaning. Some amused me … and some gave me something to think about. I’m curious, where did they lead you?

Why do people think that if you don't dress up, others will appreciate your beauty more – that style will somehow emanate from you? It's rubbish. If you dress up it helps your personality to emerge––if you choose well.

There's something really awful about the way people dress now. Everyone looks the same. Everyone wants to look neutral.
My manifesto is saying, essentially, every time you learn something, you see something you understand, you are helping to change the world and you are a freedom fighter. Even if it just means looking a word up in the dictionary you didn't know before.

I think women (and men) should flirt: all's fair in love and war.

I'm not trying to do something different, I'm trying to do the same thing but in a different way.

So many women don't seem to even understand what sexy means. Sexy is about looking powerful and important.
I think dress, hairstyle and make-up are the crucial factors in projecting an attractive persona and give one the chance to enhance one`s best physical features.
